MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russia calls for an immediate end to violence in Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry's official spokesman said Monday.
"The tragedy in Qana confirms the necessity of ending military operations, bloodshed and violence in Lebanon immediately," Mikhail Kamynin said.
The situation in Lebanon took another tragic turn when 60 civilians, including more than 30 children, were killed Sunday by an Israeli air strike on Qana in the south of the country.
Kamynin said Russia found the reasoning of those postponing a ceasefire illogical, as the international community has reached almost complete consensus on key aspects of the Israeli-Lebanese conflict resolution.
The UN Security Council has condemned the attack on Qana, he said, calling it "a severe violation of international humanitarian law."
