* At the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships in Zagreb, Croatia (through August 5):

- Vitaly Fokeyev won the gold medal in the double trap men's team competition with 190 points. Binyuan Hu (China) took silver with 189 points, and Roland Gerebics (Hungary) took bronze with 187 points

- Russia won gold in the 25m rapid fire pistol junior men's competition with 1711 points. Germany took silver with 1708 points, and France finished third with 1676 points

- Dmitry Brayko won the bronze medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol junior men's competition with 573 points. Christian Reitz (Germany) won gold with 575 points, beating compatriot Philipp Wagenitz on extra shots
