TBILISI, August 10 (RIA Novosti) - Georgia's president, Mikheil Saakashvili, has been spending his short vacation at a military reserve camp in the east of the South Caucasus country, where he is undergoing a military training course.

Giorgi Arveladze, the head of the presidential administration, said earlier said Saakashvili had decided to spend his vacation at a military camp in Osiauri, about 50 km from the border with Georgia's breakaway republic South Ossetia, to show his support for all reserve servicemen, and to fulfill his civic duty.

Speaking at the camp Thursday, the president said Georgia needed a strong army, and that he intended to propose that parliament make training at reserve camps obligatory for all men below 40.

"All [men] aged below 40 must undergo a reserve training for at least two weeks to learn basic skills," Saakashvili said.
