MOSCOW, August 10 (RIA Novosti) - Aeroflot [RTS: AFLT] posted Thursday a 10.9-fold quarter-on-quarter net profit increase, according to Russian Accounting Standards, to $162 million in April-June 2006.
Russia's state-owned flagship air carrier said in a news release that the rise from $15 mln was due to the peak travel season.
Aeroflot, founded in 1923, accounts for 39% of Russia's international air traffic, and 11% of domestic flights. In 2005, the company's net profit aggregated $226 mln.
