MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom [RTS:GAZP] said its net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards doubled in the first six months of 2006 year-on-year, to 177.6 billion rubles ($6.6 bln).
The company's sales revenue climbed 45.7% in the first half of the year, against the same period of last year.
Gazprom is the world's third largest company with a market capitalization of almost $300 billion.
