MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Guus Hiddink, the Russian soccer team's new head coach, said Tuesday he had appointed Yevgeny Aldonin, a defensive midfielder from CSKA Moscow, as captain of the national team.
The Dutch coach said 26-year-old Aldonin, who played for Russia in the 2004 European Football Championship, would lead the team at a friendly match with Latvia due in Moscow on August 16.
