MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's Anti-Monopoly Committee said Friday it has allowed Russian Standard Bank to buy a controlling stake in Kiev-based AIS-Bank.
AIS-Bank was established by AvtoInvestStroi, a corporation operating in the car market, and obtained a license in March 2006. As of July 1, the bank had assets worth 42.2 million hryvnias ($1.6 million), and a net profit of 72,000 hryvnias ($14,300).
Founded in 1999, Russian Standard Bank is on a Central Bank list of the country's top thirty banks. The bank posted a net profit of 4.8 billion rubles (about $177.7 million) in the first half of 2006, its assets totaled 155.5 billion rubles (about $5.7 billion) as of July 1, 2006, and its shareholder equity stood at 16.98 billion rubles (about $628 million).
