ST. PETERSBURG, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - The dome of a cathedral in central St. Petersburg has collapsed after a fire broke out in scaffolding, local emergencies services said Friday.
No one has been hurt in the incident at the Trinity Cathedral, built in Russia's second biggest city in 1835, after the blaze started at a height of 40 meters.
"The fire report came at 5:30 p.m. local time [13:30 GMT]," the source said. "A scaffold on the dome is on fire."
He said 25 fire engines had arrived to extinguish the blaze.
