MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government will consider amendments to the Criminal Law Code imposing tighter obligations on executive-branch officials to fight terrorism, the government press service said Wednesday.
"Certain parts of the Russian Federation are being used as terrorist training grounds with the connivance of officials in charge of public order and security. Improper execution of official duties occurs both through negligence and by design, to selfish ends," the service said in a news release.
It said officials will be held to account if their actions have led to "serious violations of the rights and legitimate interests of individuals or organizations."
