The presidents of Belarus and Iran will hold talks on the sidelines of a Nonaligned Movement summit in the Cuban capital in mid-September, Iran's foreign minister said Thursday.

MINSK, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - The presidents of Belarus and Iran will hold talks on the sidelines of a Nonaligned Movement summit in the Cuban capital in mid-September, Iran's foreign minister said Thursday.

The Nonaligned Movement is an organization of over 100 countries that have chosen against any political or economic affiliation with or against any major bloc.

"I have handed the Iranian president's invitation to the Belarusian leader today to pay a visit [to Iran] in the near future," said Manouchehr Mottaki, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Belarus. "The presidents of Iran and Belarus will discuss [Alexander] Lukashenko's upcoming visit in Havana."

Mottaki said after talks that the parties had agreed to set up a committee on bilateral cooperation which would be accountable to the two countries' foreign ministers.

His Belarusian counterpart said the countries had decided to develop a number of projects to boost cooperation in the near future.

"Belarus and Iran are developing a comprehensive and serious partnership," Sergei Martynov said.
