VLADIKAVKAZ, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - A helicopter involved in military exercises has crashed in the republic of North Ossetia, in southern Russia, the local Emergency Situations Ministry said Monday.
The Mi-8 Hip transport helicopter was participating in exercises conducted by units of the 58th army on the territory of North Ossetia, Ingushetia and Chechnya.
A group of investigators, led by a deputy head of the North Ossetian department of the emergencies ministry, is heading to the crash site, a source at the ministry said.
"According to preliminary witness reports, there are no signs of fire at the crash site," the source said, adding that details of the crash are still unknown.
