MOSCOW, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom [RTS: GAZP] is considering listing its shares on Asian exchanges, the head of the Russian energy giant's department for work on financial markets said Wednesday.
"We do not have plans to obtain a listing on New York stock exchanges, but we are looking at several Asian exchanges," Pyotr Bakayev said.
Bakayev said a decision on an Asian listing could be made in a year, adding it was too early to speak of any specific exchanges.
He said the share of American Depositary Receipts (ADR) for Gazprom stock totaled some 10% of its charter capital, and that the number increased over the past year.
In December 2005, the Russian government removed the "ring fence" around the energy giant that prevented foreigners from owning its common stock.
