ST. PETERSBURG, September 16 (RIA Novosti) - Parliament speakers from the Group of Eight industrialized nations decided to set up a consultative council to study the situation in the sphere of energy technology and resources, the Russian speaker said Saturday.
"We decided to establish a consultative council from representatives of G8 parliaments, scientists, experts to study the situation in the sphere of energy technologies and resources," Boris Gryzlov said after today's meeting of the speakers in St. Petersburg.
Gryzlov also said he had accepted the invitation to attend the next meeting of parliamentary speakers. "We accepted the invitation from the Bundestag speaker," he said.
The meeting will be held September 7-9, 2007.
In July St. Petersburg hosted a G8 summit as Russia holds this year a rotating chair in the organization. Germany will hold the G8 rotating chair after Russia.
