COMPIEGNE (France) September 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's president said Saturday the creation of four common spaces remains a priority in cooperation between Russia and the European Union.
"The creation of four common spaces remains an unquestionable priority in relations between Moscow and Brussels," Vladimir Putin said after a meeting with his French and German counterparts, Jacques Chirac and Angela Merkel.
He said the meeting had passed in an atmosphere of openness and mutual understanding.
"The tripartite format has proved very useful. It helps us not only better understand each other, but also promptly respond to international challenges and threats," he said.
