MOSCOW, September 24 (RIA Novosti) - A woman was hurt in a fire at a market in Moscow's northeast, a firefighting service official said Sunday.

The fire at the Chaika shopping center occurred at about 6 p.m. Moscow time (2 p.m. GMT).

"A woman who tried to save her property inhaled carbon monoxide and was sent to the hospital in an ambulance car," he said.

A spokesman said the fire that embraced 500 square meters (5,380 sq. feet) was localized by joint efforts of 30 firefighting crews and five rescue service groups.

The shopping complex affected by the fire is in the territory of the Cherkizovsky market. Today's incident is not the first emergency occurring at the market. On August 21, it was hit by an explosion that killed 10 and left 49 people injured.

The Cherkizovsky market has seen four fires in the past six years - in 2000, 2001, and two times in 2005.

A deputy speaker of the Moscow legislature earlier said the market would be demolished by the end of 2006.
