MOSCOW, VELIKY NOVGOROD, September 24 (RIA Novosti) - Representatives of Muslim organizations said Sunday a mosque was attacked in the city of Yaroslavl 280 km (174 miles) northeast of Moscow but police have not confirmed the reports.
"Some time after midnight a group of unknown people started breaking the windows of the mosque, minaret, and threw Molotov cocktail bottles into the mosque," Radik Amirov, the head of Russia's Association of Muslim Journalists, said referring to the mosque imam.
Amirov said the believers saw a group of young people escaping from the mosque territory.
Law enforcement officers did not confirm the reports.
