ISNA said the talks on Iran's controversial uranium enrichment program were most likely to be held in Brussels. The previous round of talks between Ali Larijani and Javier Solana was held on September 10 in Vienna, where the sides said a certain progress had been made on a series of issues.
Iran resumed nuclear research in January citing civilian energy reasons while the West suspects it of pursuing a clandestine weapons program.
On September 14, experts from Iran and the EU met to discuss Iran's atomic research program in Geneva.
France's foreign minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy, has said an agreement on Iran's program could be reached in a matter of weeks, not months.
Under a resolution of the UN Security Council, Tehran was to have suspended uranium enrichment by August 31 as a pre-condition for further talks on a package of incentives that six negotiators on Iran's program worked out in June to resolve the issue.
The six nations comprise Russia, the United States, France, Britain, China and Germany.
In its reply to the package on August 22, Iran, however, said it might only suspend uranium enrichment after talks with the Iran Six were over.
