MOSCOW, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Russian experts are ready to bring the first unit of China's Tianwan nuclear power plant up to 75% of output capacity by October 10, the vice president of Russia's nuclear power equipment and service export monopoly said Friday.
Atomstroiexport has been building the Tianwan NPP, which uses improved VVER-1000 reactors and K-100-6/3000 turbogenerators, under the terms of a Russian-Chinese agreement signed in 1992.
Atomstroiexport vice-president Yevgeny Reshetnikov said, "Russian specialists are able to meet the previously agreed date to hand over the first power unit of the Tianwan NPP in November 2006. By October 10, they will be ready to operate the first unit at 75% of capacity, and we are currently waiting for the Chinese side's authorization for this."
A spokesman for Russia's Federal Agency for Nuclear Power, Sergei Novikov, said the 10th session of the Russian-Chinese sub-committee for nuclear issues had been held in Beijing earlier Friday.
