"According to our preliminary estimates, inflation was 0.2% in September," Alexei Ulyukayev said.
Ulyukayev said that in October 2006, the bank was expecting inflation to be considerably lower than in October 2005 (0.6%).
He also said the bank has not yet revised its official forecast for 2006 at 8.5%.
"We are still not changing our forecast, which is 8.5%. It is still a possibility," he said, adding that it would be possible if prices for housing and communal services and petroleum derivatives were not considerably raised.
According to official statistics, inflation in January-August was 7.1%.
Earlier, Ulyukayev said the Central Bank could slightly raise its inflation forecast for 2006.
"It's quite possible that in October, the forecast will be slightly revised. We might raise it to 9%, or another figure," he said then.
