MOSCOW, October 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Iranian and North Korean nuclear problems should be resolved by diplomatic and peaceful means, the Russian foreign minister said Tuesday.
Sergei Lavrov said the main thing was "to prevent violations of the nuclear non-proliferation regime," adding that G8 countries used this principle to resolve the Iranian and North Korean nuclear problems.
Iran and North Korea's nuclear programs dominated the agenda of the G8 summit in St. Petersburg in mid-July, when Russian President Vladimir Putin also said the industrialized nations had agreed that "the nuclear problems with Iran and North Korea should be resolved in a purely peaceful, diplomatic way."
