MOSCOW, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Three militants have been eliminated in Chechnya, the Russian Interior Ministry said Saturday.
"Today, at 6:40 a.m. (2:40 a.m. GMT), a group of militants was destroyed near the village of Roshni Chu, in the Urus Martan district [in central Chechnya]," a ministry source said.
He said the militants, who were riding in a car, put up fierce resistance and were killed in a shootout, adding that one of the gunmen was identified as a member of Chechen warlord Doku Umarov's group.
He also said three assault rifles, two pistols, three Mukha grenade launchers, and a large amount of explosives and ammunition were seized as a result of the operation.
