MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - The price of natural gas in Russia may grow almost two-fold in 2007, the president of the country's largest crude producer said Wednesday.
The average wholesale gas price in Russia, set by energy giant Gazprom, stood at 1,190 rubles ($44.2) per 1,000 cubic meters in 2006.
"The gas price on the Russian market can change significantly in the near future, and we are expecting changes in price formation," Vagit Alekperov said during the presentation of the company's 10-year strategy in New York.
He said gas consumption in Russia was twice as high as oil consumption.
