NEW YORK, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - LUKoil [RTS: LKOH] and state-controlled oil company Rosneft [RTS: ROSN] are discussing the possible creation of a consortium to supply oil to China, the head of Russia's largest crude producer said Wednesday.
China is one of the world's largest importers of hydrocarbons, and the volumes Russia currently supplies are insufficient to satisfy the country's demand.
Vagit Alekperov said the preparation for setting up the consortium is still at the initial stage. "We have just begun studying the region's demands," he said.
