The issue of gas deliveries has become vital this year following a price row in January, when Gazprom raised gas prices to world market levels and cut off supplies to its ex-Soviet neighbor. It later accused Ukraine of siphoning off Europe-bound transit gas.
"The Cabinet will do everything possible to ensure Europe keeps receiving gas transported across Ukrainian territory on time and in full," Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with a delegation of European parliament deputies.
He said a possible increase in the throughput capacity of Ukraine's gas transportation system is currently being considered.
"The process will be transparent and will unite the efforts of the EU and Russia," Yanukovych said.
In 2005, Ukraine pumped to European countries 121.5 billion cubic meters of gas. The current throughput capacity of the Ukrainian system is some 140 billion cubic meters annually.
