"Condoleezza Rice informed the Russian President about her trip to the Seoul-Tokyo-Beijing triangle," Putin's spokesman, Alexei Gromov, told reporters.
Rice visited the three Asian capitals earlier this week as part of a crisis tour to press for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1718, imposing weapons and financial sanctions on Pyongyang in the wake of the reclusive regime's October 9 announcement it had successfully tested a nuclear device. Russia supported the sanctions, but spoke against using military force against North Korea.
"The President and the State Secretary shared perspectives on issues relating to North Korea as well as on more general issues of nuclear non-proliferation," Gromov said.
Forthcoming meetings between top Russian and U.S. officials were also on the Putin-Rice agenda, he said.
