MOSCOW, October 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's deportation of an Uzbek national wanted in his home country on charges of involvement in terrorist activities was made on the decision of a Moscow court, the Federal Security Service said Friday.

The UN's refugee agency has voiced concerns over the safety of Rustam Muminov, who Russia extradited to Uzbekistan on October 24. The Moscow Helsinki Group also protested the move, saying his deportation violates Russia's international obligations.

The FSB's Public Relations Center said: "Following a ruling by Moscow's Tverskoy District Court on October 17, R.T. Muminov was expelled from the Russian Federation at Domodedovo Airport."

The FSB said Muminov has been charged with involvement in Hizb-ut-Tahrir al Islami, a terrorist organization.

Rights groups say the Uzbek citizen, who had been living in Russia for five years, could face torture or execution in Uzbekistan.

They said Muminov was forcibly put on a flight bound for Tashkent on October 24, and that Russian authorities chose to ignore a recommendation by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), asking them to suspend his extradition.

U.S.-based Human Rights Watch has also condemned the deportation.
