MOSCOW, October 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and the United States are both responsible for maintaining global strategic stability, the Russian foreign minister said Monday at a meeting in Moscow with a top U.S. military officer.
"The responsibility our countries have in maintaining strategic stability in the world is unique, and other countries look to us with the hope that we will continue to maintain it," Sergei Lavrov said at the beginning of talks with General Peter Pace, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The foreign minister said Russian-U.S. military cooperation is an important element of bilateral cooperation, and that it includes interaction both between the nations' defense ministries, foreign ministries and security services.
