MOSCOW, October 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Iranian counterpart in a phone conversation Monday that talks on Tehran's nuclear program should continue.
"In discussing the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program, Putin set forth the Russian side's strong stance in favor of further negotiations," the Kremlin press office said.
Iran may face sanctions for failing to comply with the UN Security Council's demand that it suspend uranium enrichment.
Russia has consistently supported Iran's right to nuclear power under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and is building a nuclear power plant in the country.
