"Gazprom and Angola's Sonangol plan to cooperate on oil and gas exploration and production in Angola, and investments may total $100 million," Alexander Medvedev said.
Gazprom and Angola's state-controlled oil and gas concessionary Sonangol signed a memorandum on cooperation following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Angolan counterpart Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, who is on a three-day visit to Russia.
"The memorandum primarily concerns prospecting and production of natural gas to be used in a liquefied natural gas project, whose first phase will be implemented as early as next year," Medvedev said.
He said the sides will form a coordinating committee that will prepare a prospecting plan outlining territories and specifying investment amounts.
