MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - Alrosa, Russia's largest diamond producer, said Wednesday its net profit, calculated to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS), fell 20.4%, year-on-year, in the first nine months of 2006, to 8.48 billion rubles (about $314 million).
Sales totaled 55.29 billion rubles (about $2.05 billion) in the reporting period, against 69.93 billion rubles (about $2.59 billion) a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
Alrosa mined diamonds worth $1.36 billion in January-September 2006, selling $1.6 billion worth of uncut diamonds and $104.3 million worth of refined diamonds, the statement said.
