MOSCOW, November 8 (RIA Novosti) - Uralsvyazinform [RTS: URSIG] said Wednesday its net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) increased 70% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2006, to 2.47 billion rubles (about $91.4 million).
The leading Urals-based telecommunications company said the higher figure was due to organic growth in business and profitability.
Earnings grew 14.6% in January-September 2006 year-on-year to 24.48 billion rubles (about $906 million). Operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) was up 21% in the reporting period to 9.15 billion rubles (about $339 million) and pre-tax profit increased 55% to 3.57 billion rubles (about $132 million).
Russian telecoms giant Svyazinvest holds 53% in Uralsvyazinform; 18% of shares are distributed among nominal holders and 28% are owned by private individuals.
