Kalashnikov assault rifles, hand anti-tank grenades, and mortar shells were found near the village of Prigorodnoye. Police said the cache belonged to Viskhan Gabuyev, a suspect gunman killed earlier in a skirmish.
A mortar, rounds to a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and a knife-bayonet were discovered in the southern Nozhai-Yurt district of the troubled republic. Its whereabouts were reported by a man arrested on suspicion of links to separatists.
In the capital, Grozny, police detained five men, while they were trying to buy weapons.
The republic's Interior Ministry said "three of the detainees are students of the Grozny Oil Institute." Police seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle from one of them.
Although the Kremlin has declared an end to the anti-terrorism campaign in Chechnya, sporadic fighting still occur in here, hampering efforts to revive the economy, create jobs and bring life in the republic to normal after a decade of warfare.
