HANOI, November 19 (RIA Novosti) - A bilateral protocol signed by Russia with the United States on its accession to the world trade club has nothing to do with the Republicans' defeat at the latest Congress elections, the Russian economics minister said Sunday.
Russia and the United States signed November 19 a final protocol on bilateral terms, paving the way for Moscow's accession to the world trade club. The document was signed by Russia's Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref and U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab at a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organization in Hanoi.
"The signing of the agreement [between Russian and the U.S. on WTO] is not linked with the Republicans' defeat [at the November 7 elections to the U.S. Congress]. The agreements on all principal issues were initialed on November 6," German Gref said.
