Mother's Day in Russia is celebrated on the last Sunday of November. Due to the celebrations of Mother's Day, the State Duma (the lower house of Russia's parliament) adopted a special statement.
"This holiday symbolizes society's attention to everlasting human values and confirms the great significance of women as mothers in preserving stability and the good in today's world," the statement said.
Women have been the state's reliable support and an example of service to homeland in the most difficult times of Russia's history, the statement said.
"Today hopes for the improvement of the demographic situation in the country are linked with mothers, women," the statement said.
The Russian parliament is actively working on laws aimed at creating favorable conditions for women to give birth to and bring up children, and also for raising the prestige of motherhood, the statement said.
