GUDERMES, November 26 (RIA Novosti) - The elimination of Arab mercenary Abu Havs will affect considerably the activity of illegal armed formations and improve the situation in the region, the Chechen premier said Sunday.
The terrorist and his four accomplices were killed November 26 in a special security force operation in Dagestan, a republic in Russia's North Caucasus bordering on Chechnya.
"This morning, Abu Havs, who had been the purse of Wahhabis, was killed in the Republic of Dagestan. Abu Havs financed the activity of illegal armed formations and paid for terrorist attacks, and also allocated money for Wahhabis' activities in the North Caucasus," Ramzan Kadyrov said.
Kadyrov said Abu Havs was a citizen of Saudi Arabia, adding that from 100 to 150 mercenaries from different states were still active in the North Caucasus.
