MOSCOW, November 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's second largest cellular communications operator VimpelCom [RTS: VIMP] said Thursday its consolidated net profit calculated to US GAAP in January-September grew 32.4% year-on-year to $613.5 million.
Net profit per common share gained 32.9% to $12.05 in the reporting period, from $9.07 in the same period of 2005.
Consolidated net profit of the mobile operator, known in Russia for its Beeline brand, climbed 37.7% year-on-year in the third quarter to $268.4 million.
Net profit per common share in the third quarter increased 38.2% year-on-year to $5.28 from $3.82.
Operating income in 9M06 was $3.4 billion, up 48.6% from last year's figure. Operating income in the third quarter of 2006 totaled $1.4 billion, 56% higher than the 2005 figure.
VimpelCom is controlled by Russia's Alfa Group and Norway's Telenor.
