TOKYO, December 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Japan have agreed to simplify visa formalities for some categories of citizens from both countries, a source in the Japanese Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
The bilateral negotiations on a simplified visa regime began after President of Russia Vladimir Putin paid a visit to Japan in November 2005. The Japanese side agreed to ease the procedure of issuing visas to representatives of culture and art whose organizations have the status of a legal entity in Russia and for entrepreneurs arriving in Japan on the invitation of Japanese companies.
According to the source, the procedure of issuing visas to Russian citizens arriving in Japan will be accelerated. It will be easier for Russian entrepreneurs to receive multiple visas, and the term of short-term stay in the country will be extended to 90 days, the source said.
