PERM, December 3 (RIA Novosti) - A newly-formed Russian region in the Urals is holding its first regional legislature elections Sunday.
The Perm Territory was formed from the Perm Region and the Komi-Permyak Autonomous Area, comprising more than 160,000 square kilometers, uniting a population of about 3 million, on December 1, 2005.
Perm Territory residents are electing 60 deputies to the regional legislature, with 30 deputies to be elected in single-seat constituencies and 30 deputies from party lists, the local electoral commission said.
The elections require 25% of the voters to come to the polling stations to validate the polls. The parties have to clear the 7% threshold, the commission said.
