MOSCOW, December 12 (RIA Novosti) - A Moscow notary, in custody pending a new trial in the murder case of Forbes Russia editor Paul Klebnikov, has been hospitalized with a brain concussion, his attorney said Tuesday.

In addition to charges he faces in the Klebnikov case, Fail Sadretdinov also stands accused of fraud and forgery.

"Sadretdinov had an epileptic attack, fell in his cell and sustained a brain concussion. He is now in the prison hospital," Ruslan Koblev said.

On May 5, a jury acquitted Chechens Kazbek Dukuzov and Musa Vakhayev of Klebnikov's 2004 killing, as well as lawyer Fail Sadretdinov. But Russia's Supreme Court overturned the verdicts following an appeal by prosecutors, who said the verdict violated the Criminal Code.

The court ruled that the case be returned to the Moscow City Court for a re-trial with a new jury.

Klebnikov had worked for Forbes since 1989 and gained a reputation for investigating murky post-Soviet business dealings and corruption. He became the first editor of Forbes Russia when it was launched in April 2004. He was shot dead on a Moscow street three months into his tenure.

Prosecutors in the case also allege that Sadretdinov and his gang are linked to the murder of former Chechen Deputy Prime Minister Yan Sergunin, and an attack on entrepreneur Alexei Pichugin, who was seriously wounded last June.
