Viktor Yanukovych, currently on a one-day working visit to the South Caucasus state, said: "Ukraine is interested in organizing supplies of light Caspian oil via the Baku-Supsa-Odessa-Europe route and involving Azerbaijani companies in this project."
He said Ukraine can maintain the quality of light oil delivered via the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk pipeline.
The pipeline, running from Ukraine's Black Sea coast to Brody, near the Polish border, was initially set to pump Caspian oil to Central Europe, but has instead been used "in reverse mode" since 2004 to transport Russian crude south to the Mediterranean.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said earlier Kiev, which also strives for the extension of the pipeline to Poland, was poised for talks on oil deliveries to Europe, and is ready to attract such oil-rich Caspian states as Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
