PETROPAVLOVSK KAMCHATSKY, January 2 (RIA Novosti) - A Cambodian fishing boat operated by a predominantly Russian crew was detained overnight for alleged poaching off the Kamchatcka Peninsula, in Russia's Far East, spokesmen for a Pacific Coast Guard unit said Tuesday.
Coast Guard inspectors arrested the Orion 1 boat and her crew, consisting of 13 Russian nationals and two citizens of Burma, in the small hours Tuesday, after discovering more than ten metric tons of crab on board. The vessel's captain failed to produce any documents authorizing the catch.
The boat will now be convoyed to the port of Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky for an inquiry.
