KRASNOYARSK, January 2 (RIA Novosti) - A rescue operation is under way in Siberia to pluck a group of tourists off an ice floe in Lake Baikal, regional emergencies officials said Tuesday.
A ship with rescuers was sent on the mission following a telephone call from fellow tourists camping ashore, who spotted five or six people and two cars stranded on drifting ice at about 9 o'clock GMT Tuesday morning.
