MOSCOW, January 19 (RIA Novosti) - Transactions on the Moscow Stock Exchange (MSE) topped 4 billion rubles ($151 million) in 2006, a 15-fold increase on last year, the MSE press office said Friday.
The number of securities transactions on the MSE totaled 1,250, or 2.7 times as much as the previous year; 212 million shares worth a total 988.5 million rubles ($37 million) were sold, marking a four-fold increase, year-on-year, in both cases.
Mercantile transactions came close to 1,500 in 2006, with more than 1.3 million metric tons of goods sold, worth a total of over 2.9 billion rubles ($109 million). The previous year saw just five such transactions, to 16 million rubles ($603,100).
