Sergei Lavrov told Fouad Siniora that Moscow wants an early resolution of Lebanon's internal political crisis, the ministry's press service said, adding that the discussion was initiated by the Lebanese side.
"The Russian side reiterated its position in support of Lebanon's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as efforts to achieve an early settlement of internal Lebanese problems through consensus among all of the country's political forces," it said.
The international conference in support of Lebanon is due to take place on January 25 in Paris.
Lebanon's Hezbollah-led opposition has been escalating mass street protests against the government of the U.S.-backed anti-Syrian premier.
Sergei Lavrov said earlier Russia is deeply concerned over the growing tensions in Lebanon, but it does not aspire to the role of a special mediator in the long-standing regional conflict.
