This year the forum in the east Swiss town, which will run until January 28, involves 2,400 delegates from 90 countries, including senior government officials and leading businessmen.
The official opening ceremony will take place later on Wednesday, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel setting out the priorities of her country's current presidency of the Group of Eight leading industrialized nations and the European Union.
The Russian delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, includes Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref, St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko, Governor of the southern Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov, and the Volga republic of Tatarstan's Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov.
The forum will include two sessions devoted to Russia and its development prospects as seen by politicians and businessmen January 27.
