MOSCOW, February 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's domestic debt rose 2.8% during the first month of 2007 to reach to 1.56 trillion rubles ($40 billion) on February 1, the Finance Ministry said Friday.
The ministry said earlier it plans to place a total of 293.6 billion rubles ($11.05 billion) worth of bonds on the domestic market in 2007.
The statement said that taking into account bond redemption of 86.1 billion rubles ($3.2 billion), net borrowing in 2007 will be 213.5 billion rubles ($8.02 billion).
State debt policy for 2007 is based on the 2007-09 Debt Strategy approved by the Russian government in April 2006.
