MOSCOW, February 7 (RIA Novosti) - Trade between Russia and Great Britain is seeing strong growth, having expanded by over 28% year-on-year in 2006, the Russian finance minister said Wednesday.
"In my view, our relations are very cordial, and are developing," Alexei Kudrin told a news conference after a meeting with British Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Alistair Darling.
Kudrin also said Russian companies' investments in the UK economy have been increasing, bringing the accumulated investment volume up to $0.5 billion.
This figure "is still modest, but this is a positive trend," the minister said.
Alistair Darling said in turn that Britain was ready to consider any application from Russian companies to buy assets in Britain, including bids from energy giant Gazprom.
He said it was maximum predictability must be ensured in the legal framework to improve mutual investment.
