MOSCOW, February 14 (RIA Novosti) - An accident at a power substation has blacked out part of a district in Moscow's south, an energy company said Wednesday.
"Due to an accident at the Chertanovo substation, the emergency automatic mode was switched on and some customers were left without power in the district," a representative of the Moscow United Power Company said.
He added that all those without power would be reconnected soon.
Moscow City Power Company press secretary Svetlana Beketova said several residential buildings were disconnected, adding that power supplies have been resumed on a fallback circuit.
The blackout lasted for an hour, local residents said.
Beketova said an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. "The preliminary explanation is a short circuit," she said.
