TYUMEN, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Police have caught three men with more than 10kg (22lb) of heroin worth over $500,000 in a Siberian town, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
"Law enforcement officers in the area have thwarted the activities of another drug dealing group, which had organized a wholesale drug supply channel," the prosecutor said.
The suspected drug dealers were caught red-handed in Surgut with the huge drug stash packed in one-kilogram plastic bags and hidden in secret compartments in a Russian Lada car.
"The drug dealers - one of them local, and the two others from the North Caucasus - have been arrested," the source said, adding that they faced up to 20 years in prison and a fine equivalent to $38,000 if convicted.
