TEHRAN, March 10 (RIA Novosti) - A mortar shell exploded in a Baghdad district where an international conference on Iraq was to take place later Saturday, the Iranian news agency IRNA said citing a security official in the city.
The Iraqi government came up with the initiative for the conference as the situation in the country has deteriorated and invited the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Russia, and neighbor countries and interested regional organizations to the event.
IRNA said the forum had been postponed indefinitely, and said representatives of some Arab nations were running late.
